Art Displays - No Hooks Required = Renters Dream!

You wanna make your house a home, build up your art collection! This part has never been an issue for me - I love everything from abstract to photography and love the fact that I have passed on an appreciation of it to my teenage son...together we know nothing about art but we know what we like!

When you rent, it can be tricky - you're restricted by not being able to install hooks and I am not a big one for the plastic 3m strip hooks as I have found they tend to remove the wallpaint on occasion...

Solution : displaying art on consoles and tables can be so beautiful, even on the floor which often reminds me of the decor of a tres cool loft in Brooklyn, especially if you have hard wood floors...

Get your creative vignette juices flowing and create areas and moments of interest by layering pieces and interesting objects together on tables in entry ways, on dressers in bedrooms, even on mantle pieces.

Best in Bed(side Tables)...

I love how interior design has changed...in the 80's and 90's everything was so traditional and matchy, matchy, now everyone is a stylist and anything goes!

Take for instance bedside tables which no longer have to be three drawers and a place where matching lamps take pride of place on either side of the bed...

The Scandi trend bought with it gorgeous wood tables with pastel legs, the resurgence of Mid Century design showed us that teak side tables looked so good against our bright pop bedding and recently the resurgence of cane and rattan can make a bargain bedside or side table look darling in an adult or kids space alike...

What do you think? Don't these looks have you rethinking what's possible...

Show us how you are the master of mixing things up, rstyle your bedside table and tag us on Insta...we'd love to see your best work!

All the Inspo You Need to Get Green Thumbing...

I have never been able to relate to those who 'love to get out in the garden' but recently I have found myself longing for my own plot of dirt...

A balcony or courtyard garden can be so soul warming and one that you can take with you when you move on is even better!

Gorgeous succulents, fishtail palms, little coloured seedlings in interesting pots and baskets look so good and can give you another happy place to spend your time.

Coffee Tables (with no remote controls in sight)...

No longer just a place for the remote controls and a set of coasters, coffee tables can be such a beautiful place to show who you are and a great investment prices for renters. I love them piled with gorgeous books, bits and pieces from travels, candles and flowers.

Good news : coffee tables don't have to cost the earth, there are some great pieces around that with a little creativity, time and TLC can be bought to life...I have seen some great Ikea hacks on the Vittsjo Coffee Table which retails for around $90.

The key is to start with the right shape and dimension for your room then top it with objects of affection.

You'll Love This Super Easy Winter 17 Trend

While the kids thought it was oh so ‘fresh’ to team their slip with their tee this past Summer, those of us a little more ‘experienced’ know better…and want the same thrill of repurposing our pieces as we cruise into the colder months. Enter the Turtleneck Under Dress Trend…
It has to be one of my favourites for Winter. Team with some boots and you’re out the door. Taking the tricky out of trends…tick!

The Only Two Words You Need to Know in Interiors This Year

The only two words you need to know in Interior Design in 2017……green and texture…
Combine the two and well, shift out Penelope! (FYI : Muriel’s Wedding reference – if you didn’t know this / haven’t seen it, your living in sin!)
Every time I visit Dorinda’s house in the Berkshire’s (A RHWONY reference – you’re not living in sin if you don’t know this one!) I want one. She teams her’s with other lush and luxe pieces, like cobalt blue velvet armchairs and surprisingly it’s not too much – its Jonathon Adler and Anna Spiro and David Hicks all rolled into one. And it’s just one word – Divine!
