Amazing Stylist, Emily Chalmers says it perfectly, "think laterally - a beautiful but old teapot with a broken spout could make a great vase, a distressed wobbly stool could become a plant stand, a lace bed cover could hang at the window, a relatively small length of fabric could cover a panel of a screen."
Upcycling, making over, thinking laterally, whatever you want to call it, I hope these ideas for the humble wooden pallet inspire you to give that little DIY job you have been putting off a go!
Would love to hear about your makeovers, let me know what you have done that turned out better than you ever expected!

ReplyDeletei love these! i'm a huge fan of using old, unwanted things in new, creative ways. my partner is an interior designer and furniture builder, and he always uses reclaimed woods and upcycled materials. one of my favorite things is visiting the salvage yard with him. it's such an inspiring place!
ReplyDeletei absolutely adore that kids' reading nook and the coffee tables... actually, i love it all! :) your blog is gorgeous, and i'm so glad you came and said hello so i could discover it. lovely to meet you!
Creative use of pallets, I love the white room with the pallet bed and the black ceiling, it is dreamy.

OK - most of those images are cute but I just can't get over how many splinters that last kid's bed could lead to! seriously dangerous...
ReplyDelete@Style-Edition you do raise a great point, perhaps the creative use of pallets is best to left to 'children at heart'!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your beautiful comments, for those of you that are loving the headboard, head over to Stylizmo where there is no shortage of fab ideas and where this one came from. xoxo
Miss Walker, I love your blog and your city (my husband is from Melbourne)!

Upcycling is such a great way to describe it! I love going to Goodwill and thinking creatively to give an old item new life. Plus you spend very little $ and get the satisfaction of a job well done!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great selection of inspired spaces - who would have known a timber pallet would have so many uses. XX Samantha
